Dahab, which means gold in Arabic, started as a small Bedouin fishing village in the south-east of the peninsula. Once known as a hippie hangout, Dahab nowadays is more than tie-dyes and rastafaris. Gowing interest in activities such as scuba-diving and windsurfing are attracting tourists from all over the world. Yet, Dahab is still less "uptight" than its neighbour Sharm El Sheikh. It manages to maintains a chill-out atmosphere, while offering all the services and facilities one seeks. Accommodation and dining here ranges from budget to 5-star.
