Practical Information

 

• Although Egypt and Dahab are blessed with sunny skies almost all year round, unlike many think, there are changes in temperature throughout the year. Summers are very hot, with temperatures up to 35 C, and winters get get pretty chilly at around 8 C. If you're lucky you'll even find snow up Mt. Sinai!
• No matter when you visit, always remember to bring sunblock, sunglasses and a wide-rim hat. Don't panic if you forget, as almost everything is available in Dahab nowadays.
• Please note if you are climbing Mt. Sinai or going into the desert it will get cold at night (even during the summer) . It's advisable to bring a warm jacket, fleece or blanket with you.
• Many places accept US dollars and Euro, but it's more convenient to have Egyptian pounds available (LE). There are a couple of ATM (automatic teller machines) in Dahab, so no need to worry. Credit cards are accepted in a few places, so always make sure you have cash in hand.
• There are several internet cafes around Dahab at very competitive prices. This ensures you are always connected.
• It is recommended to book your room in advance during the high seasons (spring break, summer and winter break).
