What To Do in Dahab?
Due to its location, Dahab is an ideal place for several water sports; scuba diving and windsurfing being the most popular activities. Dahab is internationally known of its famous and spectacular dive sites, as well as for being the perfect spot for windsurfing. If you are not a water person, fear no more, as there is more to Dahab than just getting wet.
Some highlights include:
- Scuba diving and snorkelling. Many of the coral reefs are located around 1-2 meters from the beach. The Blue Hole and Canyon sites are internationally famous dive spots.
- Windsurfing is definitely recommended. Dahab's location is prime for this sport. Even if you are a beginner, it is worth taking a lesson to try to conquer the Red Sea waves.
-
Safaris on camel, horse, jeep and quad-bike. Most safaris are standard trips, but you can ask for a tailor-made one, to suit the less or more adventurous. Safaris will take to you nearby destinations, and to more distant scuba diving locations.
- Taking a day or overnight camping/trekking trip to the amazing desert landscape of South Sinai. Places to visit include the White Canyon, Closed Canyon and Colored Canyon.
- A trip to Mount Sinai (sunrise and sunset trips are popular) and St. Katherine's Monastery. If you feel adventurous, you can make a trekking trip around the other mountains within the St. Katherine Protected Area. Just make sure you arrange your trip through Sheikh Musa, the Bedouin responsible for treks in the area.
- Fresh seafood, which includes red snapper, calamari, shark and lobster. We recommend the "Sea Bride" (literal translation of mermaid) restaurant. They have a daily variety of fish and seafood, which is accompanied by seafood soup, rice, salad and dips.
- Take a yoga class at sunset and get inspired! You'll even have the chance to dive scuba yoga.
